Witness to our time

Collection of photographs by renowned photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt. From the late 1920s to the year 1966, Alfred Eisenstaedt has travelled the world and photographed many people. This book presents a fabulous record of his life behind the lens. Starting with early photographs, of the crowned heads of Europe, of the League of Nations conferences, and of the rise of Hitler, the book covers the depression years in the Unted States, Hollywood in the golden 1930s, the home front during WW2. It takes us on a postwar tour - a defeated Japan, Korea on the eve of the Korean war, to Czechoslovakia, Italy, Kenya, and Africa. It shows us actors, writers, musicians, statesmen, scientists, educators who made history in our time. Portrayed in the book are 320 famous people.
